Articles to be ministered unto Elizabeth Bishop of Rye widow
1 Imprimis. Hath not your father Master Robert Carpenter, late of Rye jurat deceased, in his lifetime admonished you in your lifetime to have a care not to meddle or to deal with Anne the wife of George Taylor of Rye gentleman? And How long ago for is it he so admonished you and for what intent, cause or how long ?or ?did purpose did he so admonish you? Declare your knowledge therein.
2 Item. Hath not the said Anne Taylor at any time declared and told teld unto you what speeches and communication hath in secret or privately been spoken, or said, between your late father deceased and you, as perfectly as if you had been present? And whether did she not say unto you that she could tell what you and your father at any time did say when you were privately together, or words to that effect?
3 Item. Do you know or have heard of any books of one Zacarias of Hastings - which were in the custody of Master Bracegirdle Prescott late vicar of Rye, deceased - accounted conniving books, that came to the hand and possession of the said Anne Taylor or her mother Anne Bennett, widow. Yea or no or any of them yea or no?
4 Item. Did do you in Have you not heard at any time the said Anne Taylor tell you that there was a falling out at a certain time between Master Taylor, or the said Anne his wife, and one Master
