And this examinate did then carry down the child, and went unto Mistress Taylor and teld her what was done, and delivered her the child, and she said
“Alas, poor child, thou wast afraid. How white he doth look!”
And afterwards, when gillyflowers were ripe, she gathered four nosegays, and sent them by the child again to the four spirits, and willed him to deliver to every one of them, one. And this examinate was requested by her to carry him up again to see the delivery of them.
But when she came up, there were not none of the spirits there. And then this examinate did set down the child, and he played in the window with the nosegays. And of a sudden the child spied them, and cried out and squealed and clung about this examinate’s neck, and flung away the nosegays. And so this examinate carried away the child, and teld his mother what had happened.
But the nosegays were after taken away, as she thinketh by the spirits. And she further sayeth that the child was very fearful. But whether it took any harm or not she knoweth not.
And after all this Mistress Taylor divers times came unto this examinate’s house, and sent away this examinate’s children to her house, and then cause this examinate’s doors to be locked bolted, that none should come in. And after the -----ett t[he] g[ro]und did move where the said Anne -----r did go or set. And then she willed this examinate to go up to for the spirits, to see what news they brought, and what they would have. And this thus the said Mistress Taylor most days did use.
And sometimes likewise at Mistress Taylor’s own house, when this examinate and she did set together, the ground did move where Mistress Taylor did set, and likewise she would then send up this examinate to know what they would have. And sometimes when this examinate was sent up, the spirits would say nothing.
And sometimes at this examinate’s house, when Mistress Taylor sent this examinate up, the spirits would will this examinate to bid bid Mistress Taylor go home, but wherefore she knoweth not. But then Mistress Taylor would presently run home.
